1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, phone, tablet) to remember things about your visit. Modern browsers also use related technologies — local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, pixel tags — that we group with cookies for purposes of this policy.
2. Cookies AI Calculator sets directly (first-party)
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
aic_theme | Stores your selected theme (light/dark) | 1 year | No — site works without it (defaults to light) |
aic_consent | Records that you've seen the cookie consent banner | 1 year | No — banner re-appears each visit if not set |
aic_recent | Stores your 5 most-recently-used calculators (local storage, not transmitted) | Until cleared | No |
aic_units | Stores your preferred unit system (metric/imperial) | 1 year | No |
None of these cookies contain personal data, none are transmitted to our servers, and none are shared with third parties.
3. Cookies set by third-party services we use
3.1 Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization enabled to understand aggregate site usage.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique visitors (anonymized) | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Persists session state (anonymized) | 2 years |
_gid | Distinguishes unique visitors (24h window) | 24 hours |
Opt out for all sites: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or use any tracker-blocking browser extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc.).
3.2 Google AdSense
We display advertisements via Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads, prevent the same ad from being shown repeatedly, measure ad effectiveness, and (subject to your settings) personalize ads based on your prior browsing.
| Cookie domain | Purpose |
|---|---|
googlesyndication.com, google.com, doubleclick.net | Ad serving, frequency capping, conversion measurement, and (with your consent) personalized ads |
Manage AdSense personalization at Google Ads Settings. Full details in Google's advertising cookie policy.
4. How to control cookies
4.1 In your browser
All major browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
- Mobile: Open browser settings → Privacy / Site settings → Cookies
4.2 Reset your AI Calculator preferences
The button below clears all first-party cookies set by AI Calculator (theme, consent, recent calculators, units). It does not affect Google Analytics or AdSense cookies — use the browser controls above for those.
4.3 Do Not Track
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" header, we respect it: Google Analytics is automatically disabled. AdSense respects DNT for ad personalization (you'll see contextual ads instead of personalized ones).
5. EU / EEA / UK users (GDPR)
Your rights under GDPR: You have the right to consent (or refuse consent) to non-essential cookies. AI Calculator's first-party functional cookies are strictly necessary or "preference" cookies under EDPB guidance. Analytics and AdSense cookies require your consent in the EU — that's what the cookie banner on your first visit asks about. You may withdraw consent at any time using the controls above.
6. California users (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. AI Calculator does not "sell" personal information as defined by CCPA. Google AdSense's targeted advertising cookies may be considered "sharing" under CPRA — opt out at Google Ads Settings or via the cookie banner.
7. Brazil users (LGPD), Australia users (Privacy Act)
Equivalent rights apply. Use the controls above or contact us at naveenpnai@gmail.com.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update the "Last updated" date when we change this cookie policy. Material changes will be highlighted via the cookie banner on the homepage.
